Algarve Travel Guide

The Algarve is one of the most popular destinations in Europe for British tourists. Located in the southernmost region of Portugal, Algarve has a relaxing Mediterranean climate and its popularity is well-deserved. With a 150km coastline boasting over 100 safe, clean beaches of white sand Algarve holidays have a lot to offer. Its many resorts are geared for holidaymakers, with great restaurants, bars and clubs. And if you’re a nature lover, the Algarves’s hills are worth exploring. Your holidays to Algarve will be very easy to enjoy for you and your family.

As part of the European Union, it’s straightforward to travel to Algarve, Portugal, with no visas needed. A few hours from the UK, flights land in Faro, Algarve’s capital. From there, it’s a short trip to one of the many beautiful resorts; places like Albufeira, Vale de Lobo and Praia Da Rocha. And with so many beaches, you’ll be able to choose from dozens of resorts for your holidays to Algarve

The best way to get around on your Algarve holidays is probably car. There is a good railway service along the coast, but you’ll have to change so a car may well be your best bet. You can rent easily if you’re over 21.

The weather is great all year round and the busiest times are July and August. The typical temperatures are 15°C for winter and 31° C for summer, so the beach is always a great option for your Algarve holidays.

Holidays in Algarve offer fun water activities like windsurfing, kitesurfing, snorkelling and diving. And if you’re a golf lover, holidays in Algarve won’t be complete without a round at one of the 30 coastal courses.

No holiday in the Algarve would be complete without trying some of the delicious local cuisine. Try some of the locally caught seafood or the hot and spicy Piri Piri chicken!

And if cheap Algarve holidays are what you’re after, it’s worth knowing that with the European economy as it is this year, prices in the resorts are much cheaper. And holiday firms are lowering their prices, too, hit not just by the austerity budget but also the Icelandic ash-cloud earlier this year. Cheap Algarve holidays are likely this year and will take the strain off your pocket so you can enjoy your holiday in style.
